As we\u2019ll learn, these are conversations that are interdisciplinary in scope, and that require us to reflect on our values as writers, scholars, and global citizens. While we\u2019ll draw on research from the field of Writing Studies, this class will also be actively shaped by your own disciplinary expertise and interests (in other words, it\u2019s not just for English majors!).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some things we\u2019ll do together:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a collaborative AI policy that defines permissible uses in our class<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiment with (and without) AI writing tools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn from scholarly and public conversations about AI and writing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Curate a recommended reading list for the university community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to original research about AI use at USM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in public conversations about AI and writing through blog posts and a class showcase<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an upper-level, writing intensive course, and you can expect to write at least 5000 words across a series of projects in this class.
